Hygiene Visits :

On your first visit your hygienist will thoroughly check your gums. Part of the appointment will be spent on oral hygiene instruction; the rest of it will involve scaling and polishing your teeth.

If the hygienist feels you need a further appointment then she may encourage you to see her again. Once your gums are healthy your hygienist may recommend that, to keep your mouth that way, you should see her at three or six monthly intervals.
